On Monday Sony announced it was giving away four free games to PlayStation Vita owners in order to celebrate the one year anniversary of the portable console in North America.
In order to download the four games, you were supposed to access the PSN store via a Vita. And, for the most part, that was true. When the PSN store updated on Tuesday evening, the âpurchaseâ option for the four games was removed from the PS3 PSN store and the Sony Entertainment Network PSN store on the web. However, Sony seems to have forgotten that the PSP can also access the PSN store.
If you have a PSP you can connect directly to the PSN store and download all four free games from the Vita promotion. Since all four titles run on the PSP, itâs a useful loophole. Amusingly, itâs also not the on ly one.
Before the SEN web store, PSP owners could use a piece of software called Media Go to access the PSP PSN store from their PC. Media Go is completely standalone and does not require a PSP to use. It is also free. As a result, anyone can use Media Go to grab all four free games, even if you donât currently own a Sony system. All you will need is the software and a free North American PSN account.
- Download Media Go.
- Install it on a Windows PC.
- Log in with your PSN account.
- Add all four free games to your cart.
- Check out to confirm the free âpurchase.â
Once the games have been added to your PSN account they are yours forever.
The free games include:
- Patapon (Playable on PSP and Vita)
- Patchwork Her oes (Playable on PSP and Vita)
- Piyotama (Playable on PSP and Vita)
- Wild Arms (Playable on PS3, PSP and Vita)
